Are you getting the best out of life?
Demands made by today’s world may exhaust the toughest personality. Events in the Middle East bring an added dimension of anxiety – the most common cause of unhappiness.
Do you have a sense of apprenhension – maybe alarm – which may give rise to nerve depletion, even heart palpitation? The “Greens” are not the only ones who are concerned about what is happening on the earth.
Our fears, rational, or irrational, sudden or long-standing, may be real. Some people are afraid to leave home, others can’t cope with the hassle of the supermarket. How is it possible to find courage to face life with a resilient spirit and calm determination?
There are many answers. Here’s one from St Francis de Sales, who wrote:
“Do not fear what may happen tomorrow…The same loving Father who cares for you today, will care for you tomorrow and every day…Either He will shield you from suffering or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it…Be at peace, then, and put aside all anxious thoughts and inagined fears.”
Why not start each day with an Affirmation? I love quotes especially from the Bible. I reapeat it to myself at odd moments and expect my mind to become more positive, to expect greater serenity and a sense of well-being. To tap resources of patience, faith, peace, strenght and wisdom that are handed down through the ages by saints and sages. I expect to enjoy a better quality of life from this day onwards.
